چکیده
ABSTRACT We search for ultraluminous Quasi-Stellar Objects (QSOs) at high redshift using photometry from the SkyMapper Southern Survey Data Release 3 (DR3), in combination with 2MASS, VHS DR6, VIKING DR5, AllWISE, and CatWISE2020, as well parallaxes proper motions Gaia DR2 eDR3. report 142 newly discovered QSOs 3.8 < z 5.5, of which 126 have M145 ?27 AB mag are found a area 14 486 deg2. The host galaxies of low luminosity quasars at high redshift
We present VLT/ISAAC near-infrared imaging of the host galaxies of 15 low luminosity quasars at 1 < z < 2. This work complements our studies to trace the cosmological evolution of the host galaxies of high luminosity quasars. The radioloud (RLQ) and radio-quiet (RQQ) quasars have similar distribution of redshift and luminosity, and together the high and low luminosity quasars cover a large rang...
متن کاملHost galaxies of bright high redshift quasars: Luminosities and colours
We present the results of a near-infrared imaging study of high redshift (z ∼ 3) quasars using the ESO-VLT. Our targets were selected to have luminosities among the highest known (absolute magnitude MB <∼ −28). We searched for resolved structures underlying the bright point-source nuclei by comparing the QSO images with stars located in the same fields. Two QSOs (HE 2348−1444 at z = 2.904 and H...
متن کاملHigh - redshift obscured quasars
Using mid-infrared and radio criteria, we select a sample of candidate z ∼ 2 obscured quasars. Optical spectroscopy confirms about half of these as type-2 quasars, and modelling the population suggests 50-80% of the quasars are obscured. We find some flat radio spectrum type-2 quasars, and tentative evidence for obscuration unrelated to the torus. Using a similar sample, we also find evidence f...
متن کاملThe Afterglows of Ultraluminous Quasars
Quasars represent a brief phase in the life-cycle of most massive galaxies, but the evolutionary connection between central black holes and their host galaxies remains unclear. While quasars are active and shining brighter than the Compton-limit luminosity, their radiation heats the surrounding medium to the Compton temperature, forming Compton spheres extending to the Strömgren radius of Fe26+...
متن کاملA Physical Model for the Luminosity Function of High-Redshift Quasars
We provide a simple theoretical model for the quasar luminosity function at high redshifts that naturally reproduces the statistical properties of the luminous SDSS quasar sample at redshifts z ∼ 4.3 and z & 5.7. Our model is based on the assumptions that quasar emission is triggered by galaxy mergers, and that the black hole mass is proportional to a power-law in the circular velocity of the h...
